Despite other such holidays in my youth the finer points of boating sometimes eluded the family on this trip. During the first night our mooring came undone swinging the boat into the river in the middle of the night*, on other occasions it was said that our boat almost certainly didn’t collide with the odd boat or bank. Fortunately (for all) we improved our ability to boat. At the very least we all hope that rumours of the wild Magraths and the legendary boat the Pearl Gem will have been long forgotten by any such time we wish to return to Norfolk. In any case the most important thing is heavily pregnant sister is still in this condition and the much circulated emergency advice for birthing babies at home (or on a boat) was not required – this was appreciated by all. After maxing out at the heady speeds of between 4 – 6mph all week it was nice and relaxing and having taken a number of photographs more may likely follow in the fullness of time.
*Do ask us about this. It’s a great story. Alan stayed particularly calm and as it turns out can achieve anything when wearing pyjamas inside out.
